Who are our conselors?

Mgr. Petr Matoušek  

I completed my five-year psychology studies at the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University in 2017. However, I decided to remain in the academic environment. Initially at Masaryk University, and now at Brno University of Technology, I work daily with people seeking ways to reduce the discomfort they experience in their academic, professional, or personal lives. I have a long-standing interest in topics such as academic failure and the quality of education. I also enjoy attending lectures outside my field and reading good science fiction or fantasy. I often reflect on how to balance freedom, growth, and adventure with rational practicality and long-term sustainability.

My approach to work is primarily based on the principles of the Person-Centered Approach (PCA), which places the client and their experience at the heart of the process. In 2022, I completed a long-term training program in psychotherapy and counseling within this framework.

 

Mgr. Michaela Havlát Odehnalová 

I studied psychology as a master's program at the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University. During my studies, I began working at the Masaryk University Career Center, and after graduating, I became a career counselor and later a coach. I was also very drawn to the field of education, so I started collaborating with a private educational company, where I primarily led development workshops or organized teambuilding events. In 2021, my colleagues and I came up with the idea of establishing a coaching training program led by psychologists, and since then, we've released about 40 new coaches into the world each year, all with a respect for the uniqueness of each client and humility toward the craft.

Despite my broader focus, psychology remains my greatest passion. I am currently in training for cognitive-behavioral therapy, focusing on working with adults. When I'm not working, you'll likely find me in the garden with a book in one hand and coffee in the other, recharging my batteries. If it's raining, I'm probably assembling a puzzle with an audiobook in my ears or playing RPGs.

 

Mgr. Jitka Černá  

I completed my studies in psychology at the Faculty of Social Studies in Brno, followed by a course in Clinical Psychology and began a comprehensive psychotherapeutic training in the SUR model. Even then, I knew that I wanted to develop in direct client work, and my first position in a community for drug addicts provided an opportunity to learn therapeutic work both with individuals and groups, as well as to focus on gender-sensitive therapy with women. During this time, I also became interested in postmodern approaches in psychotherapy and completed training in Narrative and Collaborative Practices.

I later explored work in a prison setting, initially as a co-therapist in drama therapy, and then as a psychologist. When deciding on my next steps, I was excited by the opportunity to work with university students, where we can focus more on prevention and talent development. I continue to be interested in trauma therapy and post-traumatic growth.

I regularly supervise my work, and my family experience often intersects with it, as I am also raising two children. I enjoy the diversity in psychotherapy, where I also incorporate imaginative and relaxation techniques. I have a deep appreciation for art in all its forms, nature, and sports.

 

Mgr. Miroslav Zítko 

I transitioned to studying psychology at the Faculty of Social Studies in Brno from the Industrial School of Communication Technology in Prague. During the early years of my studies, I also explored humanities-oriented environmental studies and musicology, but ultimately, psychology became my primary focus. After completing my master’s degree, I briefly pursued a Ph.D., but the need for more hands-on psychological practice led me to work as an educational psychologist for students with disabilities at Masaryk University. I spent ten years there, primarily supporting students with mental health issues, autism, and learning disabilities (and contributed to the development of a new diagnostic test for learning disabilities).

Before the coronavirus pandemic, I spent two years involved in a project with the National Institute of Mental Health, organizing educational programs aimed at destigmatizing mental health issues and promoting mental well-being. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, going on cycling trips in the Moravian Karst, restoring Japanese knives, and playing music.
